This is the lie behind the idea that pornography is "merely" entertainment. Even movies made purely for entertainment are not "merely" entertainment. Everything we put into our minds shapes our minds. High-definition streaming porn, one of the most powerful forms of media ever devised, is clearly distorting an entire generation's views of sexuality, from the earliest ages.

Infidelity is devastating. Infidelity is heartbreaking and crushing. When you make your wedding vows, you vow to love your new spouse for "better or worse." Infidelity definitely falls into the "worse" category, but it doesn't have to mean the end of your marriage. With communication, healing, love, patience, effort, and renewed trust, you can build a new - and better - marriage with the same partner and create a new life together.

France Champions Abortion Amid Falling Birth Rates

France recently announced that the number of births in the nation has dropped to the lowest level since World War II. In 2023, less than 700,000 births were recorded in the country, a drop of 20% since 2010, and a number that hadn't been seen since 1944. With an overall fertility rate of 1.68 children born per woman, France's fertility rate is higher than many European countries, but far below the replacement fertility rate of 2.1. How astonishing, therefore, to read that this past week the French Parliament voted overwhelmingly to add a "right" to abortion to the nation's Constitution - becoming the first nation in the world to take this radical step.

We should not be surprised, then, that marriage has come under so many assaults in recent decades. This includes the explosion of no-fault divorce, the increase in cohabitation and collapse in marriage rates, and the incursions of contraception, pornography, rampant infidelity and so-called same-sex "marriage."

Why Our World Needs the Good News of Marriage

For many around the world, the family is not only the first but also the only form of social protection, a community of reciprocity and care. Parents are the primary educators of their children. Families are often the strongest advocates for their members who might otherwise be ignored or considered a burden by society. Each member of a family gives and receives irreplaceable love, care, and support. For this reason, social policies must support the family in its essential role in achieving social justice and social development.

In this article, we would like to answer the question: why is adultery a grave sin? This way of approaching the issue is a doctrinal approach. We will answer the question drawing from the teachings of the Bible and the teachings of the Catholic Church, especially the Catechism and other documents of the Magisterium. The issue of adultery is founded upon the fact that God Himself is the Author of marriage. Moreover, He created marriage with certain goods and laws that cannot be changed by human will, neither by the state nor society.

May Catholics Get the Johnson and Johnson COVID Vaccine?

While some may see no ethical problem, for many a straight line can be drawn from the ending of a human life in an abortion to a vaccine or drug created using cells derived from the harvesting of the fetal tissue. Even if the cells have been propagated for years in the laboratory far removed from the abortion, that connection line remains. That is why we must look to the Church for an answer to this dilemma.

Although children are the supreme gift of marriage, Catholic couples are not obliged to have as many children as humanly possible. While always remaining open to the possibility of a new life, couples may, when a serious reason is present, choose to postpone pregnancy.

The Church, in teaching that the sexual act is reserved for life-long unions of a man and a woman, is not against sex or against love. Instead, the Church is for sex and for love, including love for children, who have a right to be born into a stable union, and to be raised by a mother and a father. The problem with same-sex unions, or other sinful sexual relationships, is not that two people love one another, but that their love is expressed in a way that misuses and reduces the gift of sexuality, and thereby harms themselves and others.
