NCBC Has Moral Obligation

Children of God for Life is calling the National Catholic Bioethics Center to task for their stunning denial of the directives in the recent Vatican Statement "Moral Reflections on Vaccines Prepared From Cells Derived From Aborted Human Foetuses".

"One could only conclude after reading the NCBC statement (http://www.ncbcenter.org/vaticanresponseNCBC.asp) that either they did not bother to study the document or they simply decided to use their own spin in the same manner that has confused the public for years," said Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director of Children of God for Life. "Such statements only further destroy their own credibility."

In a point by point rebuttal, Children of God for Life noted exactly what the NCBC had stated vs. what the Vatican actually said. "They actually stated that the Vatican document was perfectly in line with their own position," she said. Not only is that completely disingenuous, they are ignoring their own moral obligation as Catholic leaders to take action as the Vatican has instructed!"

Children of God for Life posted their detailed responsee at http://www.cogforlife.org/ncbcvaticanresponse.htm to help others who are confused by the NCBC statement. They also noted the NCBC position is completely at odds with another Vatican official, Msgr. Jacques Suaudeau of the Pontifical Academy for the Family, who oversaw the writing of the document and, as a medical doctor, leant his own expertise. His intentions were grossly misquoted in an earlier article by Catholic News Service and he has responded in his own defense.

"Nothing is consistent between the NCBC and the Vatican," Vinnedge stated. "Where the NCBC says the Vatican has rejected parental rights to refuse these tainted vaccines in accord with their conscience, both the Vatican and Msgr. Suaudeau soundly refute that idea."

"I would invite the NCBC to read his statements - and the actual Vatican document again," she said. "They would do well to adhere to the Vatican advice: 'In any case, there remains a moral duty to continue to fight and to employ every lawful means in order to make life difficult for the pharmaceutical industries which act unscrupulously and unethically.'" "That applies to the NCBC too!" she added.
