This is my twelfth in the series, highlighting key aspects from each chapter of my new book, While We Were Sleeping: A Wake-up Call For All Christians (2025). (Check out my YouTube channel, where I am posting a reflection on each chapter, to complement these posts.)
The current war with Iran's IRGC has woken many to the reality that we are far from achieving the green utopian dream of the major parties and legacy media. So it's exciting that counter-arguments are finally being heard, even on some mainstream media.
For example, the fake climate change agenda was recently exposed by Channel 7's Liam Bartlett (20 April 2026), Spotlight - The dirty secret powering Australia's green future, a brilliant wake-up call.

Rod Lampard, a theologian and culture wars commentator, introduces my chapter on climate change. He writes for Caldron Pool, The Daily Declaration, and The Spectator Australia. Here are some extracts from our interview:
I didn't really have an opinion about climate change until I was being told what Karl Barth said as opposed to what he actually said. Then there was the catalyst of 2016 with Trump and the hypocrisy of the left. I started to read more intently, particularly the works of Jean Bethke Elshtain (1941-2013), a political scientist in the US, a Lutheran who was a huge influence on me. Her Democracy on Trial (1993), and Sovereignty: God, State, and Self (2006), were two books which helped me on my journey out of the left.
What made me aware of the climate crisis issue was their Marxist affiliation and their political language, which is essentially Communism. It's a faith. They have you believe that man is in control of the five major climate types - tropical, arid, temperate, continental, and polar. But the earth is living and breathing, it's the way God designed it, the only habitable zone in our solar system. How can man be the sole cause of climate change?
I have seen the mistreatment of people like Judith A. Curry, Peter Ridd, Joanne Nova, Ian Plimer, and Steven E. Koonan. Koonan's book, Unsettled? is a phenomenal window into true science as opposed to politicised science. By definition, science is never settled.
Koonan argues that science has been hijacked by activists and politicians and the legacy media, all of whom are part of a cabal fixated on controlling information and pushing a particular narrative. We are given information they think will be popular and right and good for their party. This is how the Australian Labor Party thinks and now also the Liberal Party. This partly explains why the National Party of Australia split from the Liberal Party after the Federal election in 2025.
Our planet has experienced ice age after ice age, with interglacials between. We are currently in an interglacial, so naturally, climates are warming. To claim this warming is catastrophic, unprecedented and is the result of man, anthropogenic warming, is a brilliant theory for social, economic and political engineering purposes.
Daily, we are bombarded with one element or another of the climate change agenda. The cost of living, the advertising from 'green' energy providers, or the marketing of government-subsidised electric vehicles and solar panels, all justified by the so-called 'science.'
Consider the view of one scientist who has not been bought -- Professor Ian Plimer:
If green activism achieves its aims, the Third World will remain in poverty. Western countries will become impoverished and even more reliant on China which uses climate change as a weapon against the West... The long march of the left through schools and universities has produced green activists and a generation that cannot write, read, calculate, think, solve problems, or look after themselves. They have no knowledge of the past, Western civilization, science and critical thinking and the brutalities of previous communist and socialist regimes. -- Green Murder (2022)
Rod Lampard gave a clear rationale for why much of the Western church has left-leaning tendencies. No wonder, then, why much of the church has bought the climate change story, because it is steeped in leftist ideology.
Megan Basham's book, Shepherds for Sale: How Evangelical Leaders Traded The Truth for a Leftist Agenda, echoes Rod's view, with her opening chapter entitled "Climate Change".
She reports that the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN), founded in 1993, was established for the mission 'to win churchgoers over to the green agenda.' Over time, Christianity Today, the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) have all been brought into the fold. Money talks!
Think about the funding for the Creation Care Initiative (established by EEN). One of the biggest was the Annenberg Foundation, a left-of-centre body with the vision to reduce population through abortion in order to save the planet (see my Chapter 8 of While We Were Sleeping).
Who would be so harsh as to criticise Christians caring for creation? However, within this laudable passion lies the deception that Christians have been seduced into worshipping the created rather than the Creator. (Roman 1:25)
It seems to me that many Western Christians now accept the fake climate change narrative, the result of man's greed, and dependence on industrialisation, with its reliance on fossil fuels that are destroying our planet.
So, to save our lives, we must be selfless and accept the deprivations of abandoning dirty fossil fuels as we embrace the clean, green energy of solar and wind.
There is no climate crisis, but there is a climate change agenda. God is in control. He doesn't want us to be slaves to fear. Read Warwick Marsh and Kurt Mahlburg (2023), 10 Reasons to Question Climate Alarmism.
Before Earth was, there was God (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1). He created us, and we inhabit His handiwork. The Bible says, "Then God blessed them (the pinnacle of creation, man and woman), and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth'." (Genesis 1:28)
Only a Godless agenda can see mankind as a plague or a pollutant on the planet, to be culled and confined, so that mother earth can flourish. That was never God's plan and purpose for His creation.
However, if you regard your existence as happenstance, or the mere luck of random selection, then I can understand how fear might drive your agendas and behaviours.
Let's end on this magnificent promise from God:
While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22)
