In 2005, the beloved Pope Benedict XVI wrote: "Only if I serve my neighbor can my eyes be opened to what God does for me and how much He loves me." These few words offer profound insight into the moral difficulty faced when anyone, let alone national leaders, defies truth, denies the vulnerable, and capitulates to the siren song of the evil one.
I am speaking of the current president and vice president of this nation. Their actions and words expose their absolute disdain not only for the gift of life but for essentially the existence of truth. For Biden and Harris, the politics of death is their rule of choice. They consistently prefer death to life when interpreting the facts regarding human beings not yet born.
On the recent anniversary of the now defunct Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, President Biden issued a proclamation. He underscored his version of truth, telling the nation that the Court had taken away a fundamental right of all Americans. He said that "trailblazers who fought heroically for the Roe v. Wade decision are watching the next generation grow up without its protections," as though the act of dismembering an innocent baby is something without which our nation cannot survive! Abortion protects no one, after all, and in fact intentionally kills millions. But according to Biden's twisted logic, his commitment to killing becomes truth and at the same time an integral part of his agenda for America.
On the heels of this proclamation came the Harris speech on the Declaration of Independence. Speaking to an audience in Florida, Harris literally left any reference to the unalienable right to life out of her speech, telling the audience that "the right of every woman, in every state, in this country, to make decisions about her own body is on the line."
Apparently Harris does not understand basic biology, or she would know that from the time the baby is created she has her own body too. Could our vice president possibly be that ill-informed? Of course not; her devotion to abortion requires the ignorance she mouths when she speaks.
For Harris as well as Biden, the baby is a nonentity, and such planned ignorance is the height of moral relativism. As Andrew Daub wrote years ago, "The lines between right and wrong have been stealthily blurred; everything's excusable; it's acceptable to compromise; sex outside of marriage is okay and 'safe'; exceptions to life exist; you can buy or kill your way out of any situation; there's no such thing as evil; everybody's right 'cause nobody's wrong."
Into this vacuum of moral relativism steps the United States government's top leadership, agreeing with the demons of death and advocating their message as part of the daily fare. Is it any wonder we kill so many innocents in this nation today?
The right to lie has replaced the right to life! And Americans have permitted it, wearing blinders and choosing not to see the consequences of the policies they prefer.
Until the citizenry cries out NO MORE LIES, the blood of the innocents will continue to run!
We must remember that the book of Proverbs teaches us,
There are six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him; Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood; A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil, the false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
The national right to lie embraces these crimes against the Lord. This is why we strive tirelessly to teach truth. We know that the right to lie is a ticket to damnation.
