This is the last article in a three-part series beginning with Eugenics and the true history of the Abortion Campaign (1) and The sexual revolution and abortion (2)

In a post-Christian society, the revolution's message is pleasure without limits, but unlimited debauchery has led to diminishing returns, a reminder that the hungry man appreciates food more than the glutton; that the Victorian factory worker appreciated his annual day out at Blackpool more than modern man and woman enjoy their endless foreign vacations. However, according to sexual revolutionaries, the fall of man began with Christianity, consequently humanity must return to a more civilised paganism; but although pre-Christian societies were highly sophisticated, so were their methods of torture and killing; their attitude to weakness was to trample on it.

The worship of sex is what Chesterton called a heresy -- just one aspect of the truth, exaggerated to cover and control everything else1 -- since although it is true that sex is natural and good, because created by God, when treated as the whole truth, it becomes a dangerous mania. Having children, the natural end of sex, can offer the unlimited joy of participating in God's creation; but the only limit allowed by the revolution is family limitation.

In contrast, pornography, which epitomises the revolution by promising "sex without strings", appears illimitable, conveying the message that all women are sexually available and wish to be treated like worthless, disposable commodities -- just like the babies they may conceive. Addiction to porn has been associated with rising sex crime,2 but also with the physical inability to have real sexual relationships,3 which can only accelerate the declining birth rate. However, feminists would insist that women have "the equal right to sex" and need only "the right to abortion";4 they may want "consent" to be taught in school, but without any consideration of whether the activity consented to is right orwrong -- indeed, without obtaining the consent of parents, or informing children of the legal age of consent.5 To demand equality without morality is to demand the right to do whatever the worst of men do; and this false equality benefits the worst of men at the expense of most women.6

Media reports about sex crime co-exist with pornographic imagery, although the two are seldom linked;7 however, the logical outcome of the Darwinian emphasis on Man as "just another animal", coupled with "the right to sex", is rape. The revolution implies that since sex is perfectly natural, there should be no barriers to it -- except the barrier to that outcome which in the animal kingdom is the whole point of sex: procreation. And while nobody demands capital punishment for rapists, the death penalty for innocent unborn babies is regarded as acceptable in cases of rape.

There is reluctance to "force" women to bear children conceived without their consent, and recent US restrictions have included exceptions for rape.8 However, only a small minority of abortions are carried out for this reason,9 and although abortion advocates often cite rape to justify legalised abortion, many rape victims feel further traumatised by abortion.10 The first priority should be protecting the victim by the arrest, prosecution and incarceration of the rapist, and there are practical problems in abortion for rape, not least the time factor involved in catching and convicting the rapist. These problems were identified in the 1930s by theBirkettEnquiry,11 but in the 1960s ALRA still supported abortion for pregnancy "result[ing] from sexual offence".12

The Abortion Act does not specifically allow abortion for rape, although it can be covered by "mental health" reasons. Much earlier, the Eugenics Society supported the legalisation of abortion for rape because of the "dysgenic" effects on children fathered by rapists, stating: "[A] child...brutally conceived as a result of a criminal assault on its mother will be handicapped later in life by environmental and nurtural factors... It is no less obvious that the child is liable to inherit from the father some, at least, of the qualities which prompted the action which gave it life. These are not qualities which anyone would wish to be perpetuated".13 The Society sent a draft copy of theirletter to ALRA.14

It would be better to campaign for less rape rather than for more abortion, especially as abortion is the perfect cover-up for rape;15 but if sex crime were eradicated it would mean eradicating the "good reason" for abortion. Abortion does not protect women from rape, but in an appalling development, rape seems to have become necessary to protect abortion.16

The revolution has not delivered love or liberty and is killing mankind; abortion is the biggest killer worldwide,17 and global population control goes on apace, despite declining birth rates.18 Is it therefore a sinister plot? Strongly influenced by Darwinian theory, sexual revolutionaries have included libertarians, utopians, feminists, liberals, leftists, Communists and cultural Marxists -- but also capitalists like Hugh Hefner, who glamourised pornography, mainstreaming and monetising the revolution. Sexual revolutionary Margaret Mead, an anthropologist, purported to discover sexual "freedom" among primitive tribes;19 biologist and sexologist Alfred Kinsey's highly questionable research claimed to reveal a "rainbow" spectrum of human sexuality, including paedophilia, suggesting that aberrant sexual behaviour was normal and natural;20 psychologist and sexologist Dr John Money started the whole "trans" obsession from similarly dubiousbeginnings.21 And while their allegedly scientific findings were sensationally reported in the press, contraceptive pill developer Margaret Sanger and the Eugenics Society's C P Blacker, aided by the "family planning" movement22 and the abortion campaign, offered their ready-made "solution" to the "problem" they helped to create.23

In the end, the Neo-Malthusians -- the radical humanist followers of Parson Malthus who, unlike him, advocated not restraint but birth control and a lack of restraint -- prevailed over the eugenicist plan of getting the "fit" to have more offspring and the "unfit" fewer. The Neo-Malthusian preoccupations have all been delivered by the revolution: sex education, reproductive control and sexual "equality"; "mental health", pacifism and globalism. A campaign begun by Neo-Malthusians to curb the population has been promoted beyond their wildest dreams by left-wing activists promoting sexual "freedom". Thanks to population control propaganda, high numbers of abortions may prompt fears that if not for abortion, the world would be grossly "overpopulated". Meanwhile right-wing eugenicists have also quietly benefitted in their aim to control the "unfit".

Both movements have been assisted by Western Marxists promoting sexual "freedom" underpinned by abortion; Karl Marx hated Malthusianism but, influenced by Neo-Malthusian claims that since capitalism required an ever-expanding population, curbing births would undermine capitalism, they turned to supporting fertility control. The role of sexual degeneracy in the decline and fall of civilisations was thoroughly critiqued by English ethnologist J D Unwin in 1934,24 but Western cultural Marxists saw the degeneration of society as a necessary step towards converting the West to Communism, as "hordes of individualists", herded into aggrieved minority groups, begin to see democracy as the source of their woes. In an ironic echo of the colonialism that Marxists would condemn, it is a case of "divide and rule".

Meanwhile the United Nations, created to promote world peace but captured by a left-leaning, anti-natalist mindset, exploits its "trusted brand" in promoting population control by "molesting the minds" of very young children via "comprehensive sexuality education", thereby encouraging "sexual diversity" and non-reproductive sexuality.25

But as Chesterton would say, population control may be a masterplan but it is also a mood, with the priorities of the "woke classes" being imposed on the working classes; he observed: "Every sane man recognises that unlimited liberty is anarchy".26 The libertarian elitists may be insane, but there is method in their madness, since the poor are only allowed the liberty to self-harm, not to take liberties with the property of the rich.27

The revolution is full of contradictions: the emphasis on youth is driven by the fear of getting old and depends on killing the very young; despite talk of inclusion and diversity, the different suffer lethal exclusion; despite claims of tolerance, cultural fascism is promoted by an informal alliance of "liberal" politicians and "social justice warriors". The revolution encourages individuals to rebel against other people's norms and expectations, but "other people" are also rebelling, and they no longer care. The emphasis on "self" in the quest for happiness has produced an epidemic of loneliness,28 as old and young, past and future, are sacrificed to the whim of the powerful and the passing moment.29 If sex is a religion, it is one that demands human sacrifice.30 As to freedom, as John Paul II remarked: "Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought."31 This is the exact opposite of the secular "right to choose", in which "hordes of unattached individualists" are "freed' only to be kept in solitary confinement, imprisoned by sin -- their own, and the sins of others -- in the vast open prison that is the revolution.

This Revolution has been portrayed as social evolution, but the revolutionaries may be going too far, too fast, exposing their masterplan as a "top-down" revolution aimed at controlling the population -- literally, population control.32 Paradoxically, the endless quest for love is destroying the one who would offer unconditional love, if only allowed to live -- the unborn child. But as the number of victims grows, and post-abortive women -- and men -- are "silent no more", instead of "free love" we may hear calls for the need to free love, held hostage by false freedom; for order to be brought out of chaos; for a revolution against the Revolution.

1 "A heresy is at best a half-truth, but usually even less than that. A heresy is a fragment of the truth that is exaggerated at the expense of the rest of the truth. The modern world praises science and hygiene and progress. These are all very well and good, but they have been elevated at the expense of larger truths, such as faith and tradition and permanent ideals."
