Mother’s Day Weekend

Jerry --

Time Magazine ran an opinion piece by Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood on Mother’s Day. She outlines a laundry list of grievances, feigns concern about healthcare costs and paid family leave policies. Finally, at the end of the article she asks readers to “commit to fighting for a government that recognizes that women deserve basic human rights and protections — including the right to decide when and whether to become a mom.”

It is diabolical that the nation’s largest abortion company speaks about human rights when they consistently deny the humanity of the unborn and fail to protect women from the societal forces that often lead them to consider abortion. Abortion isn’t “a right to decide …to become a mom.” Abortion destroys the life of a newly formed human person and leaves behind a grieving mother. Until Planned Parenthood accepts that reality their positions on affordable healthcare and family leave are insulting to the many Americans who care about the impact those policies will have women and families.

The Pro-Life Union recognizes that there are times in all of our lives when we need help – from family, friends and organizations. When family and friends cannot or will not provide the help women need to carry to term, the Pro Life Union responds with food and baby items along with emotional support and real help. We strive to create a loving community at homes like Guiding Star where mothers are affirmed in their dignity and worth. We offer a place to live and be loved. But, Planned Parenthood seems to believe women aren’t strong enough and tell women “you can’t do this.” They sell despair and abortion.

Planned Parenthood does not deserve government funding. Now is the time to redirect funding from Planned Parenthood to federally qualified health centers. There is absolutely no reason for tax-payer funding of Planned Parenthood. STD testing, breast exams and cervical cancer screenings are all down at their facilities. So, contact your Senator and ask them to vote Yes on SB 300. Visit www.pafamily.org for detailed information and resources compiled by the PA Family Institute.
