Jose M. Lim received his STB from the Pontifical Gregorian University and an STL in moral theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. Prior to his theological studies, he received a BSN from Rutgers University and served as a registered nurse in the field of cardiology. His research interests include the history of moral theology, the development of bioethics, and the work of Elio Sgreccia. He serves as a Roman Catholic priest in the Diocese of Metuchen.
Consciousness is not simply a phenomenon that can be arbitrarily dispensed with or suppressed at whim: it is a critical element of the human experience, particularly in the last chapter of one's earthly existence, during which one comes face to face with the mystery of suffering and the meaning of life.
