A Lenten Message

Dear Rev. Novotny Novotny,

Another Lenten Season is now upon us and we find ourselves preparing to rejoice and celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.

May we use these coming weeks as a time for prayerful reflection and an opportunity to grow stronger in our Faith.

Though we may find ourselves living in a chaotic and uncertain world, I pray that through your fasting, you and your families find peace and comfort.

Today, we also join in solidarity with the Universal Church to pray and fast for peace in Ukraine and around the world. "I would like to appeal to everyone, believers and non-believers alike. Jesus taught us that the diabolical evil of violence is answered with the weapons of God, with prayer and fasting," Pope Francis said in an appeal to the world during a Papal Audience on February 23, 2022. He went on to "invite everyone to make March 2, Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting for peace. I encourage believers in a special way to devote themselves intensely to prayer and fasting on that day. May the Queen of Peace preserve the world from the madness of war."

You give of yourself everyday as health care professionals dedicated to upholding the principles of the Catholic Faith. Your faithful courage will certainly inspire many this Lent, and for that CMA is grateful.

May the Lord walk with each of us on the journey we embark upon today and lead us to a joyful and blessed Easter.

Sincerely in Christ,

Rev. Christopher Kubat, M.D.
National Chaplain
