Merry Christmas From Theology Of The Body Institute!

"Silence, all people, in the presence of the Lord, who stirs forth from his holy dwelling" (Zec 2:17). These words from the Old Testament, when read through the lens of the theology of the human body, take us to the heart of the "great mystery" of the birth of Christ. For what we celebrate at Christmas is the fact that Mary's body, more specifically her womb, became the holy dwelling place of the Lord: "Silence, all people, in the presence of the Lord, who stirs forth from his holy dwelling" (Zec 2:17). But the mystery goes even deeper: we, too, are to become his holy dwelling. And so the Catechism proclaims: "Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us" (CCC 526). May that mystery be fulfilled in you as you ponder the body of the Lord stirring forth from Mary's body. Amen!
