Triduum Short Film Gets Noticed!

Stacy Trasancos

Hello Again,

As you may know, the institute sponsors a video team with a full studio complete with modern equipment. Bishop Strickland asked the team to produce a short film for the Easter Triduum, a film that both evangelizes and catechizes, true to our name. I gave the team some direction and a budget, "Make a film that touches the heart of anyone, Catholic or not, that shows why Mass matters to our lives, especially the raw suffering of self-harm that so many families endure." Our Video Production Manager, Nicholas Willey, and Visual Media Specialist, Mark Lickona conceived the storyline and produced the film on budget and on deadline. They enlisted the help of others in the community, including several of us in the institute. It moved me to tears. It left Bishop Strickland speechless. It was viewed over 13K times on YouTube and reached over 100K people on Facebook. And, most recently, we just learned that the film was accepted into the Best Shorts Film Festival (see first link below) in La Jolla, CA. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to watch "This is the Night," (see second link below) and share it with your friends and family.

Keeping it Real,
Stacy Trasancos
Executive Director
