Natural Family Planning takes the dignity of ordinary men and women seriously.

One of the constant objections to Natural Family Planning is that it asks too much of people. Many will acknowledge its positive features as a form of family planning it reverences life, is never abortifacient; it has no deadly side effects; it demands only a moderate amount of abstinence. Still! - it requires self denial and self discipline of a kind that ordinary people will not put up with. At the bottom line, this logic says, it won't work. But this objection fails to appreciate what an "ordinary person" can and will do - given a motive and loving help.

"Human Life," Thirty-Three Years Old

The '8Os and '9Os also saw great advances in research on holistic methods of birth regulation which are verifiably more effective than contraception and fully respectful of the natural meaning of conjugal love. "Responsible" Parents Are Open to Life

Interwoven among these aspects of responsible parenthood is the understanding that the two great meanings or values of marriage - the "unitive" and "procreative" - are never separated. A love that is complete and faithful, a love which holds nothing back from the other, will remain open to God's creative plan. After all, it is God's love in the first place.

Humanae Vitae Thirty-third Anniversary Commemoration

Each of us in accord with our state of life and particular responsibilities must strive to do whatever we can to communicate the good news about Christian love and marriage. In an age that is so attuned to what is natural and suspicious about the human manipulation of nature, we must communicate anew the folly of employing chemical warfare on a woman's fertility and the tragedy of surgical interventions to render men or women infertile.

Natural Family Planning and the New Evangelization

Embracing Natural Family Planning goes contrary to our culture. It insists upon respect for the integrity of the marital act, according to God's plan, in a society which believes that one may manipulate the marriage act, as if God did not exist, in order to eliminate its essentially life-giving nature.
