Dear Friends For Life,

This week allow me to share with you an email I received from Bradley Mattes of the Life Issues Institute. Quote:

Recently, Planned Parenthood received a major blow in their attempt to be seen as the end-all, be-all in reducing unintended pregnancies, funded by you the taxpayer. This time, the hit came in an analysis from their close allies at the Guttmacher Institute.

It happened when Guttmacher studied the rate of unintended pregnancies from 2001-2006. Guttmacher concluded that increased government funding for Planned Parenthood has made ZERO impact on decreasing the unintended pregnancy rate across the nation. Yes, you read that right, ZERO. It gets even more alarming. They found the pregnancy rate for poor women jumped by over 50%. It's appalling.

This is a HUGE revelation because, according to Planned Parenthood, their main reason for existence is the reduction of "unintended pregnancies," all the while begging the federal government for your tax dollars to fund their agenda. The willingness of pro-abortion activists and politicians to insist on continued funding of a failed agenda of Planned Parenthood becomes even more infuriating when crunching the specific numbers associated with Planned Parenthood's actions as a whole.

America's largest chain of abortion mills kills over 330,000 babies every year, which generates lots of money for the abortion industry giant. This helps them reach their obscene budget of over one billion dollars a year. The steady increase of government funding into Planned Parenthood's coffers is now over $363 million a year. In the midst of all this, the number of abortions at Planned Parenthood continues to rise.

That leaves only one conclusion.

With the pro-abortion organization's renewed calls for more funding, the perpetual high number of abortions is yet a further indication that Planned Parenthood and their allies are in the primary business of killing innocent babies-not avoiding unintended pregnancies.

Now more than ever, you and I must continue to spread the truth about Planned Parenthood to family and friends. Your word-of-mouth plays a vital role in showing the abortion industry that they can run from the truth, but they can't hide.d.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(FOCUS ON ASIA): "SRI LANKA: An innocent man is detained for more than three years without being charged" -  Mr. Yogarasa Shashheran (22) a resident of Kilinochchi District has been detained in Welikada Remand Prison without being charged for more than 3 years. Yogarasa lost his parents when he was 6 year old and was raised with the charitable help of others. When government forces advanced towards the Northern Region Yogarasa surrendered to the Army along with hundreds of other civilian in 2008. Then he was transferred to several detention camps and is presently detained in Welikada Remand Prison. To-date the authorities have not filed any charge against him. This is yet another illustration of gross violations of human rights in the country.

ITEM #1: Babies for Sale, Buyers Beware

Infertility can bring much heartache to couples desperately wanting a baby. Sadly, desperation opens the door for exploitation. Recently, two high-profile surrogacy attorneys, Theresa Erickson and Hilary Neiman, were caught exploiting surrogates, stealing from California taxpayers, and, most horrifically, selling babies.

ITEM #2: Wikileaks cable: U.S. gov't largest supporter of Philippines population control in past 40 years

A diplomatic cable recently published by the controversial website Wikileaks confirms the depth of support by the U.S. government for population control initiatives in the Philippines over the past 40 years, including support for the highly contested Reproductive Health (RH) Bill currently under consideration in the Philippine legislature.

ITEM #3: The Case Against Pro-Life Physicians: Bias Begins at Med School Interview

Are pro-life students being unfairly flagged during interviews for medical school? A professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, believes they are.

ITEM #4: Shock: 56% of Abortions in New York City are Repeat Abortions

New research from a organization that has spent considerable time unpacking new statistics showing the abortion rate in New York City is twice the national average shows Manhattan may have the highest abortion rate of any city in the U.S.

ITEM #5: Sperm Donor 'Super Dads' - Why It's Dangerous for One Donor to Sire Dozens

A women  who conceives a child through a sperm donor  has to make her peace with a number of unknowns - what the donor looks like, what personality quirks he might have or whether big noses run in his family.  But one thing she probably didn't bargain for was the possibility that her child could have more than 100 half-siblings out there, likely living in the same state, or even in the same city or neighborhood.

ITEM #6: Children's Desperate Plight in African Humanitarian Disaster

Up to 11 million people in the Horn of Africa are victims of the worst drought in three decades, many of them women and children.

ITEM #7 To Live Each Day with Dignity

The euthanasia movement in our country is gaining strength and momentum. The reasons for this are complicated, but at its root, this movement is driven by fears that many of us share. The fear of pain, suffering, and death. The fear that one day we might lose our mental capacity or bodily functions. The fear of becoming a burden on others. Or of being left alone to die in some institution, hooked up to expensive machines.

ITEM #8: The ripples of divorce

Out-of-wedlock births among white women with a high school diploma rose Over the weekend, both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal published two very personal accounts of the effects of divorce on Generation X. Though written by two different women, they share a similar theme: The rampant divorce rates of the '70s produced a generation of children convinced of -- and wounded by -- the shattering effects of their parents' split.

ITEM #9: Family given permission to extract eggs from ovaries of dead daughter in world first

The family of Chen Aida Ayash, a 17-year-old schoolgirl who died after being hit by a car last week, was granted a petition to have her eggs harvested and frozen, Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported. The ruling raises the possibility that, for the first time, a mother could give birth after her death, a development that raises legal and ethical questions that are likely to trouble conservatives in Israel and elsewhere in the world.

ITEM #10: At What Age Do Adolescents Become Sexually Active? (Hint: It's Later than You Think)

The age at which teenagers begin to engage in sexual activity is a critical variable for those who would make public policy in the health field. Early onset of sexual activity is associated with higher rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), teen pregnancy, depression, suicide, and other adverse consequences. However, just how to determine this age can be difficult to determine, and some commonly used calculations can lead to grossly erroneous results, as a groundbreaking study by Dr. Jokin de Irala has now demonstrated.

ITEM #11: Courage is What Counts in Battle for Life

For years, Christians and other people of conscience have worked to undo the great damage done (53 million unborn lives lost, and countless women deeply scarred) by the 1973 Supreme Court ruling known as Roe v. Wade.

ITEM #12: 'Gift of time' made the difference between life and death for brain-injured mother in coma

A wife and a mother who cheated death and defied the odds, is alive today and on the path to recovery only because her husband refused to give up on her while she was in a coma, despite the doctor's recommendation that life-support be removed.
