"Standing Ground: NFL Pro Says No"

Matt Birk

Matt Birk is an NFL star and a pro life warrior who stands up for his beliefs. The Catholic boy from St. Paul was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1998 draft.

He was named the 2011 Walter Payton NFL Man of the year for his off-the-field service, as well as his playing excellence. After a 15 year career in the NFL and a Super Bowl XLVII win with the Baltimore Ravens, the six-time Pro-Bowl Center retired from playing football and accepted a position with the National Football League as it's Director of Football Development.

When the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2013, he declined to meet President Barack Obama with his teammates due to a comment the President made in a speech in which he said, "Thank you, Planned Parenthood and God Bless you." Birk stated, "It was because of my Catholic faith and my pro-life convictions, but ultimately, it was because of my kids."

Matt and wife Adrianna are raising seven children, all under age of 14.
