New Jersey Right to Alert - Senate Finance Committee Defeats Pro-Life Amendment to Baucus Health Care Reform Bill. Action Still Needed on Health Care Rationing Amendments.
October 1, 2009
Dear Pro-Life Friends:
Yesterday, the Senate Finance Committee rejected two pro-life amendments offered by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT). The Committee will continue to debate amendments to the Health Care Reform Bill today. Action is still needed to prevent health care rationing.
Listed below is yesterday's vote tally showing how members of the Senate Finance Committee voted. As you can see, NJ Senator Robert Menendez voted against both of the pro-life amendments.
Please call and write Senator Menenedez to express your strong disagreement with his vote. Urge him to support
amendments 137 (Sen. Roberts D1) and 125 (Sen. Kyl D2) to prevent health care rationing.

On a related matter, a bipartisan group of 183 members of Congress sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a letter on Monday urging her to allow a vote on an amendment to cut the massive abortion funding and subsidies from the main health care "reform" bill in the chamber. NJ Congressman Chris Smith and NJ Congressman Scott Garrett both signed on to the letter. If you would like to thank them for signing on to the letter, their numbers are listed below:
Congressman Chris Smith 202 225 3765
Congressman Scott Garrett 202 225 4465
Thank you,
